With hashtags revolution spreading across all the places, it has also captured pace on the professional social media LinkedIn. LinkedIn announced they will support hashtags in their posts, and ever since then it is being widely used for business marketing. This has changed the way how businesses use to get their message out in a powerful way. This has given the ability for nearly 450 million LinkedIn users to #search content within LinkedIn. People can now share topics, thoughts and expertise related to their business world.
LinkedIn while launching announced on their blog that, “3. Tap into hashtags. Hashtags included in your posts (or others) are now tappable and lead to search results so that you can discover other posts with the same hashtag. Simply add a hashtag to your post and it will be automatically available publicly, or if you want it to be only visible to your connections you can easily change your sharing settings (more on privacy below). As you would expect, you can also search for a hashtag to see all public posts tagged with it.”
Hashtags have empowered businesses across globe over LinkedIn to customize their posts using related hashtags in order for people to quickly search them. This has increased their reach to a larger audience. People now can easily locate business deals and discounts in their area of interest and get benefit. With hashtags it’s a win-win situation for both the businesses and customers over LinkedIn. Hashtags are currently subjected to only posts and are not specific for “Updates” to your connections.
